Mirage

Mirage is an evolution of the project SADOC 4 for Leonardo, a new CMS for the Italian Navy. Leonardo is a global high-tech company, based in Italy, and a leader in the aerospace, defence, and security sectors.

Mirage redefines the logic of access to commands and information, applies modern ergonomic principles, and, at the same time, maintains the highest standards of performance and security. The upgrade from the previous project is the integration of new technology: the Augmented Reality.

Challenge

Introducing Augmented Reality to support the decision process in the military context could be tricky because of all the NATO conventions and military doctrines that users have to follow during their regular operativity.

The goals were to build a series of principles and recommendations that describe and enhance the user experience according to the military standards and Hololens limitations in terms of the available field of view and resolution.
